Orange Fennel French Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 pint Malai Orange Fennel ice cream, melted

  • 6 slices brioche or challah bread, about 1 inch thick

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 3 tablespoons butter

Directions:

  1. Pour melted ice cream into a 9x13 pan and whisk in 1 tablespoon of cornstarch until well incorporated and blended through.

  2. Place slices of bread on to the melted ice cream mixture and press down so the bread can fully absorb the ice cream. Let it sit there for about 5 minutes. Flip the bread and again let it soak for about 5 minutes.

  3. In a non stick pan, over medium heat, melt 1/2 tbsp of butter. When the pan has heated, carefully take one slice of bread out of ice cream mixture, removing excess ice cream and place into pan. Fry on one aide for about 2-4 minutes, making sure it doesn’t burn, and adjusting heat as necessary. Flip and repeat - fry on other side for 2-4 minutes. Remove from heat, place on plate and repeat with remaining butter and remaining slices of bread.

  4. Serve with maple syrup, whipped cream, powdered sugar or additional scoops of ice cream - it’s particularly delicious with Malai’s Turkish Coffee ice cream!
