Frozen Ghughra
Makes 6 Open-Face Frozen Ghughras
Ingredients:
6 slices white bread, such as Wonder Bread
1 tbsp. ghee
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground cardamom, optional
1 pint Malai Ghughra ice cream
Directions
Step 1. Cut crusts off all bread. Using a rolling pin, roll each piece of bread until it's flattened and thin as possible.
Step 2. Using a cookie cutter or a small bowl, trace and cut out a 2-inch circle from each slice of bread.
Step 3. In a small non-stick pan, heat the ghee over medium high heat. While ghee is heating, mix together sugar, salt and cardamom, if using.
Step 4.When the ghee is heated, place 3 bread circles into the pan and shallow-fry until golden brown on one side, about 60-90 seconds. Flip bread and repeat.
Step 5. Once golden, take bread out of the pan and pat lightly with a paper towel. Immediately dunk the circle into the sugar/salt mixture on both sides.
Step 6. Repeat with remaining pieces of bread.
Step 7. Top each piece of fried bread with a scoop of ghughra ice cream and enjoy!
